On this website, there is a data of number of monthly Instagram users from January 2013 to June 2018. This data are mentioned in several different web articles, so I think it is credible source and decide to use in order to support my research. By using this data, I can show my readers the fact which Instagram is growing very fast in the few years. "Instagram ranked worst for young people's mental health." This web article states how some social media have a bad influence on teenager's mental health. Their argument is based on one report that I read and think it is credible. Thus, I use this web article as my source. By using this data, I can show my readers the fact that Instagram have a bad influence on teenagers compared to other social media. Macmillan, Amanda. "Millennials Who Use More Social Media Sites Have Higher Depression, Anxiety." Health.com, 23 Dec. 2016, https://www.health.com/depression/multiple-social-media- sites-depression-anxiety. This web article reports young adults who use social networking services for a long time are likely to develop depression and anxiety. The author mentions one professional research and some other web articles, and I think the author's argument is strong enough. Therefore, I choose to use this article as my source. By using this data, I can show my readers the fact that social media have a strong relationship to mental health. Fleming, Olivia. "'Why Don't I Look Like Her?': How Instagram Is Ruining Our Self Esteem." Cosmopolitan, 15 Jan. 2017, https://www.cosmopolitan.com/author/5126/olivia-fleming/. This web article states how Instagram ruins people's self-esteem. The author mentions some reliable researches and interviews to women who have different jobs such as model and designer. I think this article is credible, and I can show my readers the real examples that Instagram causes low self-esteem. Thus, I decide to use this article as my source. "Smartphones and Social Media." Child Mind Institute, https://childmind.org/report/2017- childrens-mental-health-report/smartphones-social-media/. This research reports smartphones appeared in 2007, and the rise in depressive symptoms correlates with smartphone adoption during that period. They mentions many credible sources to support the argument. If I use this research as my source, I can support the reason why my topic represents the spirit of time. Therefore, I select this research as my source. Barker, Eric. "How to Overcome FOMO: Fear of Missing Out." Time, 7 June 2016, https://time.com/4358140/overcome-fomo/. This web article states the origin of the word FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) and how to overcome it. The author mentions many research and studies to make his argument stronger. I think this article is reliable and a good source to introduce my readers the origin of FOMO. Thus, I choose to use this article as my source. Heid, Markham. "Friendship: The Social Health of Friends." Time, 18 Mar. 2015, https://time.com/3748090/friends-social-health/?iid=time_speed. This web article reports the number of Americans with no close friends has tripled since 1985. Also, the author states the importance of having friends with some research. I think this article is credible, and I can show my readers the fact that people are becoming lonely compared to some decades ago. Therefore, I decide to use this research as my source. Lin, Helen. "How Your Cell Phone Hurts Your Relationships." Scientific American, 4 Sept. 2012, https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-your-cell-phone-hurts-your-relationships/. This web article states how cell phone hurts people's relationship. The author argues about this topic based on several research and other web articles. I think the author's argument is strong enough, and this article is credible. By using this article, I can show my readers the fact that smartphones disturb people's communication. Thus, I select this article as my source. "The Annual Bullying Survey 2017." Ditch The Label, July 2017, https://www.ditchthelabel.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/The-Annual-Bullying-Survey- 2017-1.pdf. This survey was conducted by Ditch The Label in 2017. Over 10,000 young people participated and answered many different questions about bullying. I think the participants are large enough to get a reliable number. Also, it is a good source to show my readers the reality of bullying. Therefore, I choose this survey as my source. Lorenz, Taylor. "Teens Are Being Bullied 'Constantly' on Instagram." The Atlantic, 10 Oct. 2018, https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2018/10/teens-face-relentless-bullying- instagram/572164/. This web article reports how teenagers are bullied on Instagram. The author mentions several surveys and other web articles to support the argument. Also, the author uses some real examples of bullying on Instagram. I think this article is credible and a good resource to show my readers the fact that many teenagers are bullied on Instagram. Thus, I decide to use this article as my source. Mosseri, Adam. "Our Commitment to Lead the Fight Against Online Bullying." Instagram, 8 July 2019, https://instagram-press.com/blog/2019/07/08/our-commitment-to-lead-the-fight- against-online-bullying/. This web article introduces the new feature of Instagram to combat bullying by using artificial intelligence. This is official article of Instagram, so it should be reliable. Also, by using this article, I can show my readers the fact that Instagram realizes their problems and tries to improve. Therefore, I choose this article as my source. "The State Of Mental Health In America." Mental Health America, 2019, https://www.mhanational.org/issues/state-mental-health-america. This survey was conducted by Mental Health America in 2019. They collected data across all 50 states, and participants answered many different questions about mental health. Their data are mentioned in many web articles as a reliable statistic. Also, it is a good source to show my readers the problem of mental health in the United States. Therefore, I decide use this survey as my source.
